Our vineyard is among the firsts implemented in our region, due to the presence of the Popes in Avignon from 1309 to 1423.
The best parcels of these rhone wines, only reserved for the popes personal use, were bounded by standing stones, hit with two papal keys.
700 years later, after a careful study of our soils, we found out that the parcels selected for our high end terroirs match with part of the papal selection.
So in honor of the skills of the popes to find the best soils we choose the name CROIX VALONG for this high end cuvée: CROIX (cross) for the shape
of the keys on the papal stones, and VALONG (valley), which is the name of the area where these parcels are located.
